Home Tips & Tricks Prodigy Technology - PC vs Mac- XP or Leopard, Apple or Microsoft

PC Vs Mac

The Great Debate: PC vs Mac. Which one is better? Which one is cooler? Which one is faster?

These questions are tough and would require a lot of time to explain and analyze. We will talk about the benefits of both and the drawbacks of both.

PROS

About 95% of all computers in the United States are Windows based computers running either ME, XP, or Vista. They are the computers of choice for businessmen, vendors, and gamers because of their versatility, low cost, and everyone’s gotten used to Windows. There are hundreds of programs for Windows, not including games. There are also hundreds of different combinations a person could have when it comes to hardware. Windows PC’s range from only $200 to over $4,000, depending on the use of the computer. Every program is developed to be compatible with Microsoft Windows at some point.

The Apple company was very smart in that they make their computers. Microsoft makes the Operating System, but then sells it to Hewlett-Packard, Dell, or some other company that actually make the computer. Apple doesn’t have to worry about hardware incompatibility because of the very few combinations of choices people have. Their computers run quicker, smoother, and work more on intuition. Learning how to use a Mac takes very little time. The computer hardware is built around the software, and the software is built around the hardware.

CONS

The main problem with Windows is the virus. There are a large number of viruses that threaten the integrity and safety of your information and your computer. They can range from information collecting, to just computer destroying. In the beginning, Vista had problems being compatible with even the computers it was pre-installed on.

Apple computers have a problem with finding compatible software, but more and more programs are becoming available for Mac. Macs tend to be pricey. The cheapest Macbook runs at $999 while PC laptops can start at $300. They might claim that the quality is better, but the technology is the same and it doesn’t really matter too much.
